On Tuesday in Mohali, Punjab, lyricist and composer Bunty Bains narrowly evaded an attempted assassination. The assault occurred while Bains was dining at a restaurant located in sector 79 of the city.
Unidentified assailants engaged the Bains in combat; however, the Bains managed to escape unharmed. He has lodged a complaint with the police.
In an interview with Aaj Tak/India Today, Bains detailed the terrifying ordeal. He disclosed that he received a menacing phone call demanding a ransom of Rs 1 crore subsequent to the attack.
He was warned that noncompliance with the demand would perilously affect his life.
Allegedly issued in the name of Lucky Patial, a notorious criminal thought to be operating out of Canada, the threat was made. Patial's affiliations with the Lawrence Bishnoi and Bambiha gangs, notorious for their participation in a multitude of illicit undertakings throughout Punjab, have brought him notoriety.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to the police.
Numerous notable Punjabi vocalists, including the late Sidhu Moose Wala, have attributed their success to Bains. Indeed, Bains' organisation oversaw the affairs of Moose Wala during his lifetime.
It is worth noting that Sidhu Moose Wala perished in May 2022 in a drive-by gunshot as well. Goldy Brar, a gangster, maintained culpability for the homicide.
