West Bengal Unveils New Safety Measures for Women Workers Following Tragic Incident

A comprehensive package of measures aimed at increasing the safety of women working night shifts has been published by the government of West Bengal in response to the widespread uproar that has been prompted by the sad rape and murder of a trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. In the context of a larger initiative to address safety concerns and provide a more secure working environment for women in a variety of fields, this program is a component of that larger effort.

Major Steps to Take in Order to Enhance Safety

1. Designated Rest Rooms: One of the initial steps is the establishment of independent rest rooms that are equipped with restrooms that are reserved exclusively for females. The purpose of this policy is to guarantee that female workers have access to a secure and confidential area in which they can relax while they are on the clock.

2. Night-Time Women Volunteers: These women volunteers, who are also referred to as "Rattirer Shaathi," will be on duty during night shifts. In order to improve the safety and security of female workers, it will be their responsibility to offer assistance and support whenever they are needed.

3. The government intends to identify and build "safe zones" around workplaces, and these zones will be equipped with closed-circuit television surveillance. 4. Special Mobile Application: A whole new mobile application that includes alarm functions from the beginning will be developed. Additional Measures
